Overview for Play 'Works' Training

A brief description about this Activity.

The purpose of the training is for adults to learn new skills, knowledge and understanding of how to engage and support childrens play.To understand what is needed to enable children to engage in freely chosen play opportunities. To introduce adults to the importance of play and enhance peoples confidence in working with children and young people in a variety of settings. The course covers: What is play? The importance of play Child Development Managing Behaviour Child Protection Equality and Diversity Team Building How to create an effective play space Risk Assessments Group activities that encourages participation and cooperation The role and responsibilities of the workerPlay Quality play opportunities are where, children can learn and develop a range of invaluable physical, mental and social skills. When play is freely chosen, it provides opportunities for the individual child to achieve their full potential while being careful not to control the childs direction or choice. A professional and ethical framework known as the Playwork Principles underpins play work. This is based on the recognition that children and young peoples capacity for development will be enhanced if given access to the broadest range of environments and play opportunities.
