Overview for Safer Moving and Handling of People

A brief description about this Activity.

A theoretical and practical session to equip learners with the knowledge and skills required to keep themselves and others safe during moving and positioning of individuals in their care. Learners will consider the correct way to undertake activities including lifting and carrying, pushing and pulling and holding of any load. Learners will explore the structure of their own back and examine practices both at home and in the workplace that could lead to injury. Learners will discuss legislation relating to moving and handling operations, ergonomics, risk assessment, consent and correct techniques. This essential knowledge will equip them to plan and work safely within their individual care environment
