A brief description about this Activity.
This online course is intended to align UK flagged cargo ships with the broad approach used by the UK Department for Transport (formerly TRANSEC) with UK flagged passenger ships and port facilities, and to help in the generation of practical and sustainable regimes that balance the security of the ship with the wellbeing of the crew. The Cargo Ship Security Instructions course is divided into 3 modules. Module 3 (Communications & Special Requirements) rounds off the Cargo Ship Security Instructions course by outlining the importance of communications in the day-to-day management of security. This includes both ship-to-shore and ship-to-ship communication. The learner will study the topic of emergency communication systems (SSAS), emergency procedures, and protocols. Module 3 also outlines special topics such as ship repair, special treatment around pilots, anchorages, berthing, and the carriage of firearms.
