A brief description about this Activity.
Global mental health focuses on achieving equity of mental health for people worldwide. Research and practice focus on key themes including:- The history of colonisation and its impact on mental health models of care worldwide- Cross-cultural research and the narratives of health workers and people living with mental disorders- Epidemiology and the relationship with being disadvantaged and socially discriminated against and excluded- Overcoming barriers to accessibility of treatment through the delivery of mental health support by non specialist health professionals.This course will explore concepts of global mental health and how these can be used when designing and delivering mental health services to migrant populations and BAME people in the UK.
