More and more therapists and clinicians are seeing an increase in addictive behaviours in their practices and clinics. Are you as a therapist at a loss as to how to understand and treat this serious mental health condition? This training will highlight how to assess correctly, how to recognise why people take drugs/alcohol, ask key questions like is continued substance abuse a voluntary behaviour?We will look at the risk and protective factors for substance abuse and addiction, what environmental and biological factors increase the risk of such compulsive behaviour? Most importantly we will look at the neuroscience and developmental aspects of dependency.
