A brief description about this Activity.

Dr. Sherrie All, a clinical neuro-rehabilitation psychologist will guide you through a better understanding of the manifestations and prognosis of each type of dementia. She will guide you on a tour of the human brain to better understand the physical and cognitive breakdowns that happen in the different types of dementias and how that affects symptoms and care. Dr. All will provide an overview of two cognitive screening assessments that you can use in your daily practice to identify cognitive decline in your clients. You will also learn the latest information on other tools used in dementia diagnosis including current advances and recommendations for brain imaging, biomarkers and genetic risk profiling. Build your toolbox of intervention skills with strategies to improve communication when caring for people living with dementia as well as best practices for addressing challenging behaviors. Learn the efficacy of medications and prevention strategies as well as an overview of ethical considerations including end of life, abuse and multicultural considerations.
