A brief description about this Activity.
There are a variety of eating disorders in our culture. Participants will learn about the signs and symptoms presented by the eating disorder patient. The diagnosis of an eating disorder requires specialized training and expertise that is usually outside the realm of treatment providers. The eating disorder patient can be extremely overwhelming to a non-eating disorder clinician and almost always requires referral to a comprehensive team which includes a mental health specialist, medical doctor and registered dietitian. Attendees will learn about the short comings in the medical and mental health field and screening tools such as SCOFF, EAT-26 and BMI when evaluating and assessing their client with understanding when to refer out.
