A brief description about this Activity.
PTSD can be a highly debilitating disorder marked by a sense the self has been shattered, a disruption of life goals, including a life of meaning and purpose. Current evidence-based models, which are primarily classified as either exposure-based or present-centered, and while effective, have some challenges with exposure-based having a high client drop-out rate, and present-centered failing to address the dysfunctional beliefs underlying the dysfunctional emotions and behaviors. This workshop will cover how REBT incorporates the effective elements of those two categories of evidence-based models but can do so with lower drop-out rates and replacing dysfunctional beliefs with functional ones. The workshop will address interventions designed to change dysfunctional emotions and behaviours and help clients build a new self-image, develop psychological resilience, and create a life with meaning and purpose informed by the client’s values.
