Overview for Keys to Using Evolutionary Psychology for Grief or Trauma

A brief description about this Activity.

A significant loss, in any one of the seven areas of one’s life, can be considered a trauma or reason for grief. Client losses come in a variety forms including, their beliefs, memory, self-esteem, employment, finances, friends, family and health. Many of us have had clients who carry unresolved and protracted loss and grief. Clients carry it for weeks, months and even years. Such a distraction colours the client’s life in many ways leaving them rotating in circles of confusion instead of evolving forward in their life. Evolutionary psychology offers practical ideas and tools for respecting and accelerating grief and loss. In this module, we will explore how to assist clients to move through their grief in a manner that honours their loss and points their way forward. The participant will learn how to incorporate laws of physics to accelerate the client’s grief process which enables them to get on with their life. We will discuss specific cases of loss and grief and how to approach it quickly and effectively. We will demonstrate specific intervention ideas and a tool which can be used in various situations with a variety individuals and groups including: children, teens, adults, seniors, couples and families. Participants will leave with a new set of ideas and a new tool for their traumatized or grieving clients.
