Overview for Understanding & Supporting ADHD

A brief description about this Activity.

ADHD is one of the most common neurodevelopmental difficulties of childhood. It is often first diagnosed in childhood, but is a lifelong condition that can affect people into their adult years. Children with ADHD may have trouble paying attention, controlling impulsive behaviours (may act without thinking about what the result will be), or be overly active. But people with ADHD have many strengths. How can we use these to support their superpower? This short workshop will assist the learner in understanding ADHD and the signs and symptoms associated with it. It will equip the learner in gathering strategies to support them in their role as practitioner or parent. It will review the strengths of those with ADHD to support the learner in viewing ADHD through a strengths based framework It will enhance the learners confidence and capabilities to provide the support needed. In this 4-hour participatory, learner-based workshop we encourage you to use your voice and take part in the conversation.
