In times of a crisis, like the COVID 19 pandemic, individuals have to struggle with extreme losses of life, livelihood and disrupted life-styles. While most individuals are impacted by such traumatic and victimizing experiences, some 75 % go onto evidence resilience , while 25 % develop adjustment problems of anxiety, depression and accompanying suicidal ideation, Prolong and complicated grief reactions, PTSD and Substance abuse disorders. In this Webinar, Dr. Meichenbaum will examine what distinguishes these two groups and the implications for both prevention and treatment. He will discuss ways to bolster resilience across the full life-span including high-risk children , youth and their families,adults who have a history of vicitimization, and the elderly. He highlights a strengths-based intervention approach that includes ways to bolster resilience in six domains (physical, interpersonal, emotional, cognitive, behavioral and spiritual). He will demonstrate how to implement evidenced-based Cognitive behavioural psychotherapeutic interventions with patients. Another focus will include ways to bolster resilience in Health Care Providers.
