A brief description about this Activity.
In this six-hour training session we will explore the impact of an insecure attachment on a client’s relationships. The session will largely be informed by attachment theory but will have an integrative focus, drawing on a range of theoretical modalities to consider how to work with the presentation of attachment wounds, specifically in adult couple relationships. The session is aimed at therapists who work with individual clients as well as couples’ therapists who are not familiar with attachment theory. In addition, it is hoped that the session will give you an insight into your own attachment style in intimate relationships. We will work with the client’s relationship in mind, rather than specifically with the dynamics of a couple in the therapy room while drawing on some of the systemic thinking of couples therapy. Attachment Theory offers a valuable framework for understanding a client’s relational dynamics, in particular in partner relationships. It enables clients to gain insight into their intrapsychic as well as interpsychic representation of the world and of relationships. Insight can enable behavioural change.
