Overview for Working Emphatically with Adult Survivors of Childhood Sexual Abuse – Using Mind, Body and Spirit with Lucy da Silva

A brief description about this Activity.

Childhood sexual abuse (CSA is a multi-faceted deep trauma that permeates every single element of an individuals’ being, the mind, body and spirit. Based on these principles this course will utilise this methodology as a structure to work with in the therapeutic exchange. The course will focus on discussing tools when working within these three key areas with some examples being (but not limited to): 1. Mind – mental health difficulties, flash backs, nightmares, intrusive thoughts and core beliefs 2. Body – shame based body memories, managing the body’s reaction to the abuse or disordered eating impacting the shape of the victim’s body potentially used for self-protection 3. Spirit – disconnect from self or others, the feeling of being dirty/damaged to the core and distrust of their emotional world
