Identity and legal status
We looked for the legal entity behind the website on the home, About Us, Accreditation, Training Accreditation, Signature Accreditation and contact pages, and in the footer. The site names the business as "The Accreditation Association" ("TAA") and does not name a registered company or display a company number on the pages reviewed. Companies House lists THE ACCREDITATION COMPANY LTD (12705198), a private limited company incorporated on 30 June 2020 with registered office in Costessey, Norwich, which was dissolved via compulsory strike-off on 22 August 2023; its last accounts were dormant company accounts made up to 30 June 2021. Companies House lists one director, who was also the sole person with significant control. A Companies House name search for "The Accreditation Association" did not return a company of that name. Published information
The Accreditation page lists the documents requested for course accreditation: a teaching qualification, the training qualification for each course, a training manual and lesson plan for each course, and the applicant's business details. The Accreditation Course List page lists the courses accredited with their pre-requisites and qualification levels. The home page describes a "Quality Check & Approval" stage. We looked for the assessment criteria or standard applied and did not find them on the pages reviewed. Pricing is published: £70 per year for one course, £325 for up to 10, £575 for up to 20 and £650 for over 20 courses; the Signature Accreditation page lists £1,000 for one year, £1,500 for two years and £3,000 for five years. We looked for terms and conditions, a privacy policy and a complaints procedure; none is linked from the pages reviewed, the site's page sitemap lists none, and the addresses /privacy-policy, /terms-and-conditions, /complaints and /refund_returns returned "page could not be found". The Accreditation page states that the fee is refundable if an application is not accepted and non-refundable once accepted. The site is served over HTTPS.
The home page states that TAA will "review your training materials, qualifications & content", and fees are charged per course. On approval, providers receive a certificate, digital logo and directory listing. We looked for a unique accreditation number for each course and did not find one stated. The Accreditation page states that accreditation "lasts for 1 year", and the Accreditation Renewal page describes annual renewal. ICO register searches by the names "The Accreditation Company" and "Accreditation Association" returned no entries; a search by the Companies House registered office postcode returned three registrations under other names. Advertising and claims
The home page describes TAA as "the trusted name in UK beauty and aesthetics course accreditation", invites providers to "Join hundreds of UK training providers who trust TAA", and states "Get approved in as little as 5–7 working days" and, further down, "Get approved in as little as 3–5 working days". It also states "Our accreditation is accepted by major UK insurance providers" and "COVER FROM THE WORLD'S BEST INSURANCE". The About Us page describes the business as "a well respected, professional company" with "working Partnerships with all the leading Insurance Companies worldwide", and states that listed academies "have been verified to the highest industry quality & standards". The Insurance Partners page states that "you and your students are guaranteed insurance through one of our insurance partners".
