The CPD Board

Commercial identification and contactability

The organisation trades as The CPD Board™ and its legal entity is The CPD Board Limited, registered with the Isle of Man Companies Registry (Registration Number: 136255C). The Isle of Man is a Crown Dependency and is not part of the United Kingdom. The organisation is therefore not registered at Companies House in England and Wales, Scotland, or Northern Ireland.

The Isle of Man Companies Registry does not provide a freely accessible public search tool equivalent to Companies House. Accordingly, director names, persons with significant control, and filing history cannot be independently verified by The CPD Register through open-access sources. Training providers and consumers seeking to conduct identity or ownership checks should contact the Isle of Man Companies Registry directly.

Physical address: The Learning Hub, 21 Keeill Pharick Park, IM44EW, Isle of Man, British Isles — published on the Contact page at https://cpdboard.org/contact (accessed 29 April 2026).

Telephone: +44 7448 954194 (described on the website as both a phone and WhatsApp number) — published on the Contact page at https://cpdboard.org/contact (accessed 29 April 2026). We note that this is a UK mobile number (07 range). No landline is published.

Note on name and brand history: The CPD Register's records indicate that two previously dissolved UK limited companies — The CPD Board Ltd (Companies House No. 13943878, dissolved 1 August 2023) and The CPD Board UK Ltd (Companies House No. 15815158, dissolved 2 December 2025) — traded under names closely associated with this brand. The current entity, The CPD Board Limited (IoM 136255C), appears to be a distinct legal entity. Training providers should satisfy themselves as to the continuity of the accreditation relationship in light of this history.

Transparency of assessment framework

The organisation publishes its assessment framework at https://cpdboard.org/assessment-criteria (accessed 29 April 2026). The page sets out eight assessment domains: integrity and honest communications; professional competence; quality of delivery and instructional design; respect, inclusion and accessibility; conflict of interest and independence; confidentiality and data protection; continuous improvement and evaluation; and environmental, social and governance commitments.

The framework distinguishes between four accreditation categories: Professional (individual trainer), Business (organisational provider), Not-for-Profit and NGO, and Per Programme. Category-specific evidence requirements are noted, though the organisation states these are enforced through an online portal that prospective applicants must access to view the full checklist.

An Accredited Party Code of Conduct is separately published at https://cpdboard.org/accredited-party-code-of-conduct (accessed 29 April 2026), which sets out the obligations of accredited organisations in detail.

The assessment criteria page does not carry a version date or revision history, which makes it difficult for training providers to confirm which version of the criteria applied to a prior accreditation decision. We recommend the organisation adds a dated version reference to this page.

Pricing transparency

Pricing is not published on the organisation's website at the date of this review.

Each accreditation service page (Professional, Business, Not-for-Profit, Per Programme) directs applicants to complete an online questionnaire and states that, if approved, "a secure payment link" will be sent to finalise the accreditation fee. No fee amounts are stated at any point in the pre-application journey.

The organisation's FAQ page (https://cpdboard.org/faq, accessed 29 April 2026) states: "Fees vary by accreditor and by category (individual trainer, business, not-for-profit, per-programme). The CPD Board™ positions itself as competitively priced, see our pricing page for current fees." No pricing page was accessible at the time of this review; the URL https://cpdboard.org/policies returned a 404 error.

The organisation's correction request (received by The CPD Register) states that pricing is published on the website. We were unable to locate a published pricing schedule on the website as at 29 April 2026. If the organisation has published pricing since this review, we invite them to provide the URL so the listing can be updated.

This field is recorded as No — pricing not independently verified as published pending further evidence.

Terms and conditions

No dedicated Terms and Conditions document governing the accreditation relationship between the organisation and training providers is published on the website. The URL https://cpdboard.org/policies returned a 404 error at the time of this review (29 April 2026).

The organisation publishes the following documents that have partial relevance to the accreditation relationship:

Assessment Criteria (https://cpdboard.org/assessment-criteria) — sets out the standards applied in accreditation decisions.
Accredited Party Code of Conduct (https://cpdboard.org/accredited-party-code-of-conduct) — governs the obligations of accredited parties post-approval, including IP provisions (section 6.2), renewal (section 10), sanctions (section 8.2), and appeals (section 8.2.3).
Privacy Policy (https://cpdboard.org/privacy-policy) — governs personal data handling.

However, none of these documents constitutes a contract governing the commercial relationship between an applicant and the organisation prior to accreditation being granted. In particular, there is no published statement of: the fees payable before a payment link is issued; the consumer's cancellation or refund rights; the duration and renewal terms of accreditation at the point of sale; or the dispute resolution mechanism available to dissatisfied applicants.

Training providers are advised to request a copy of any terms of business that will govern their engagement before submitting an application or making payment.

Individual course assessment

The organisation states in its correction request that every application undergoes an individual review against its published Assessment Criteria. This is consistent with the Assessment Criteria page (https://cpdboard.org/assessment-criteria, accessed 29 April 2026), which sets out a per-application assessment process across eight domains, with category-specific evidence requirements.

The organisation offers a Per Programme accreditation category (https://cpdboard.org/per-program-accreditation), which provides course- or event-level accreditation distinct from provider-level categories. This supports the position that individual programme assessment is available.
A public verification page exists at https://cpdboard.org/verification, which allows certificate codes to be checked. However, no publicly searchable register of accredited courses or providers was identified on the website at the time of this review.

This criterion is recorded as Yes on the basis of the organisation's stated position and the structure of its published assessment process.

Review and renewal

The organisation's correction request states that accreditations are subject to annual renewal. However, the published Assessment Criteria page (https://cpdboard.org/assessment-criteria, section 9, accessed 29 April 2026) states: "Standard accreditation validity is three years. Renewal dossiers must be submitted at least 90 days before expiry." The Accredited Party Code of Conduct (section 10.1) similarly states: "Accreditation is valid for three years from the date of issue."

There is therefore a discrepancy between the correction request (annual renewal) and the organisation's published documentation (three-year validity with 90-day renewal). The organisation also requires annual self-audits (Code of Conduct, section 10.3) and a mid-cycle status report at year two, which may have been characterised as an annual process in the correction request.

This listing records the published position: three-year accreditation validity with annual self-audit reporting and a mid-cycle review at year two. If the organisation operates an annual renewal cycle in practice that differs from its published documentation, we invite the organisation to clarify and update its published materials.

Sale of training courses or materials

No evidence was identified that The CPD Board Limited sells training courses or training materials to third parties. The organisation's website presents accreditation services only. The Join Our Network page (https://cpdboard.org/join-the-network, accessed 29 April 2026) invites business and learning consultants to become partners and refers to "complimentary or discounted toolkits, templates, webinars and workshops" for partners — these appear to be internal resources for partner organisations rather than commercial training products sold to the public.

No conflict of interest of this type was identified.

Source: https://cpdboard.org/, https://cpdboard.org/join-the-network, accessed 29 April 2026.

Financial relationships with third-party service providers

The organisation operates a Global Partner Network (https://cpdboard.org/join-the-network, accessed 29 April 2026), through which business and learning consultants can represent The CPD Board in their territory. The page discloses that partners will receive "Revenue Sharing & Referral Fees" described as "commission on every successful referral or co-delivered project."

This is a disclosed financial relationship between the organisation and third-party referral partners. The disclosure is present on the public website, though it does not specify commission rates or the identity of current partners.

No financial relationships with insurance providers, software platforms, or CPD tools were identified.

Ownership or control relationships with aligned commercial interests

The CPD Board Limited is incorporated in the Isle of Man (Companies Registry No. 136255C). The Isle of Man Companies Registry does not provide a freely accessible public search facility equivalent to UK Companies House. Director names, persons with significant control, and ownership structure cannot be independently verified through open-access sources.

The CPD Register is therefore unable to confirm or exclude the existence of ownership or control relationships between The CPD Board Limited and any training providers or commercial interests that the organisation accredits.

Training providers and consumers who wish to assess the independence of this organisation's accreditation decisions are advised to make direct enquiry with the Isle of Man Companies Registry (https://services.gov.im/companies-registry/) for information about directors and beneficial ownership.

Consistency of filings with advertised activity

The CPD Board Limited is incorporated in the Isle of Man and is not subject to UK Companies House filing requirements. Accordingly, no UK Companies House filings exist against which to assess consistency with advertised activity.

The organisation's website is active and advertises accreditation services consistent with its stated purpose. The privacy policy (https://cpdboard.org/privacy-policy, accessed 29 April 2026) confirms the entity name (The CPD Board Limited) and IoM Companies Registry number (136255C), and is dated July 2025, indicating active maintenance of the website.

The CPD Register notes for transparency that two previously incorporated UK companies — The CPD Board Ltd (No. 13943878, dissolved 1 August 2023) and The CPD Board UK Ltd (No. 15815158, dissolved 2 December 2025) — operated under closely related names. The current IoM entity appears to be a separate legal entity. Training providers should note this history when assessing the continuity of any accreditation relationship.

Companies House status

The organisation is registered with the Isle of Man Companies Registry, a separate statutory register operated by the Isle of Man Government's Department for Enterprise. The Isle of Man is a Crown Dependency and self-governing territory. It is not part of the United Kingdom, though it maintains a constitutional relationship with the UK.

Registration number: 136255C (Isle of Man Companies Registry).

The Isle of Man Companies Registry is accessible at https://services.gov.im/companies-registry/ but does not offer a freely accessible public company search equivalent to the UK Companies House service. The CPD Register has been unable to independently verify the incorporation date, current status, or filing history of this entity through open-access sources.

Distinguishing CPD from regulated qualifications

The CPD Board does not appear to sell training courses or qualifications. This section is therefore not directly applicable.

The organisation's published Assessment Criteria (https://cpdboard.org/assessment-criteria, accessed 29 April 2026) require applicants to ensure that "all material claims must be supported by verifiable sources or documented methodology" and that "disclaimers that clarify dependencies on participant effort, organisational context or local regulation must be visible in course materials and in marketing collateral." The Code of Conduct similarly prohibits vague outcome claims.

The organisation's FAQ (https://cpdboard.org/faq, accessed 29 April 2026) includes a question on the difference between CPD and regulated qualifications, and correctly notes that CPD requirements and acceptance vary by jurisdiction and regulator. No misleading qualification-level language was identified on the website.

Use of sensitive words — "Board"

The organisation trades as The CPD Board™ and its legal name is The CPD Board Limited. The word "Board" does not appear on the UK Intellectual Property Office list of sensitive words and expressions (https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/incorporation-and-names/annex-a-sensitive-words-and-expressions-or-words-that-could-imply-a-connection-with-government, accessed 29 April 2026) and is not a word restricted under the UK Companies Act 2006 for UK-registered entities.

However, in common usage, the word "Board" in an organisational or regulatory context can imply a body with formal authority, governance status, or statutory standing. The CPD Board Limited is a privately incorporated company in the Isle of Man with no statutory regulatory authority over CPD accreditation.
