Overview for Fundamentals of Reliability Engineering

A brief description about this Activity.

The "Fundamentals of Reliability Engineering" course provides a thorough grounding in the principles and practical applications of reliability engineering. Participants start by learning basic concepts such as the definitions of quality and reliability, they also explore the reasons for product failures and the consequences of these failures. The course covers reliability measurements like Mean Time to Failure (MTTF) for non-repairable products and Mean Time Between Failures (MTBF) for repairable products. It also explains how to calculate availability and Mean Time to Repair (MTTR). Participants will also learn to handle censored data, which is essential for dealing with incomplete reliability data accurately. The course explains the Bathtub Curve, which illustrates how a product's failure rate changes throughout its life. It includes the stages of early failure, normal use, and eventual wear and tear. Learners are taught how to calculate the Hazard Function, a key component in assessing reliability over time. The course teaches different testing methods to improve product reliability. These methods include Accelerated Life Testing (ALT), Highly Accelerated Life Testing (HALT), Highly Accelerated Stress Screening (HASS), Environmental Stress Screening (ESS), and Burn-in testing. It explains Reliability Block Diagrams for calculating system reliability based on individual component reliability and explores different redundancies to improve system reliability. The course ends with hands-on training on using the exponential distribution for calculating reliability in the constant failure zone, simplifying complex reliability calculations with limited math complexities. Learn how to improve product and system reliability in critical industries.
