Follow on from level 2, the level 3 course is the most detailed study of the marine electronics systems available online. To fully understand the marine electronics system on board small craft up to 24m so as to be able to install the latest in technology equipment and prevent, find and fix faults with new high tech systems, and existing legacy systems dating back to 1983, some of which are still in use.
The course delves into the complexities of how each device works and communicates with other devices on board to form a harmonious system, taking into account the relevant standards from NMEA, ISO, ABYC, and IEC that are followed and adopted around the world. MECO Level 1 and 2 are pre requirements for this course. Learning objectives are achieved though reading, lectures, and summative assessments referencing tables, and formulas in some cases.
