A seamless follow on course from the level 1, the level 2 delves into more complex marine electrical systems found on large yachts, live aboard vessels, and ocean going yachts. in terms of complexity, the course is similar to the level 1, however the level 2 course leverages this prior knowledge and enables learners to apply the knowledge from the basic course to more complex areas of the marine electrics.
Follow on from level 2, the level 3 course is the most detailed study of the marine electronics systems available online. To fully understand the marine electronics system on board small craft up to 24m so as to be able to install the latest in technology equipment and prevent, find and fix faults with new high tech systems, and existing legacy systems dating back to 1983, some of which are still in use. The course delves into the complexities of how each device works and communicates with other devices on board to form a harmonious system, taking into account the relevant standards from NMEA, ISO, ABYC, and IEC that are followed and adopted around the world. MECO Level 1 and 2 are pre requirements for this course. Learning objectives are achieved though reading, lectures, and summative assessments referencing tables, and formulas in some cases.
This advanced training course provides marine electricians, surveyors, and knowledgeable boat owners with the skills to design, install, and assess marine lithium-ion battery systems safely and in compliance with international standards. It covers system design principles, protection and control, BMS operation, thermal runaway and fire risk mitigation, installation and commissioning requirements, and regulatory compliance across ISO, IEC, ABYC, and classification society standards. Learners complete structured video lessons, technical references, and assessments leading to certification, enabling them to evaluate and implement safe, compliant lithium systems on yachts, superyachts, and commercial vessels.
