Emotional Literacy First Aider (ELFA) is a foundational, non‑clinical professional development program that teaches participants how to recognise, understand, and respond to emotions — in themselves and others — using safe, practical, trauma‑aware skills. The course builds emotional vocabulary, regulation capacity, interpersonal awareness, and supportive communication strategies. ELFA strengthens workplace wellbeing, reduces escalation, and prepares learners for more advanced programs such as MHinFA, PFA, and First Aid in Mental Health.
First Aid in Mental Health is a non‑clinical, trauma‑aware professional development program that equips participants with the skills to recognise early signs of mental distress, offer safe and supportive first‑response assistance, and guide individuals toward appropriate professional or community supports. The course emphasises emotional safety, communication, boundaries, and ethical decision‑making without teaching diagnosis or clinical intervention.
Psychological First Aid (PFA) is a trauma‑aware, non‑clinical skills program that teaches participants how to provide calm, stabilising, supportive assistance to someone experiencing acute distress. The course focuses on safety, emotional regulation, communication, and practical support within clear non‑clinical boundaries. Learners gain confidence in responding ethically and effectively during moments of heightened stress while staying firmly within a lay‑helper scope of practice.
Foundation in Mental Health Literacy (FMHL) is an introductory, non‑clinical professional development program that builds essential understanding of mental health concepts, distress indicators, stigma reduction, and supportive communication. The course provides a safe, accessible starting point for learners who want to improve their confidence in recognising and responding to mental health concerns within appropriate boundaries. FMHL prepares participants for further training such as ELFA, FAinMH PFA, and First Aid in Mental Health. Prerequisites: • Minimum age: 18+ • Functional English literacy • Currently working or volunteering in a people‑facing role (community, education, support, workplace, customer‑facing, etc.) • RPL accepted for relevant experience • WWVP/WWCC not required, as this is a non‑clinical literacy program
Boundaries & Burnout Prevention for Care Staff is a practical, trauma‑aware professional development program designed to strengthen emotional safety, role clarity, and sustainable practice in care environments. The course helps participants recognise early signs of burnout, compassion fatigue, and boundary erosion, and teaches practical strategies for maintaining wellbeing while providing high‑quality support. It is non‑clinical, workplace‑focused, and tailored specifically for disability support workers, aged‑care staff, educators, and frontline professionals. This activity is designed for individuals working in care, support, community services, or supervisory roles.
